Source FM launches radio request show live at Redannick care home

One of Cornwall Care’s Truro homes, Redannick, is preparing to turn back the clock on Sunday 22nd August as it hosts a 1950s themed launch party for Source FM’s new radio request show!

Hosted by Source FM presenter Supergran (aka Glenys McMahon) and supported by Val Stagg and Caroline Sanchez, the launch party will be broadcast live from 2-4pm across Falmouth and Penryn. The 1950s themed launch party is free to attend for all Cornwall Care clients across the county and includes a buffet, stalls, games, a raffle and of course the fabulous sounds of the 50s.

Douglas Webb, Chief Executive of Cornwall Care said: “This 1950s themed party is just one of the many events and activities organised for Cornwall Care clients as part of our Active Life programme.

“We are delighted that ‘Supergran’ Glenys McMahon has chosen to launch her radio show by broadcasting live from Redannick and we look forward to welcoming clients from across the county for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of fun, games and music.”

Glenys McMahon is famous in Cornwall for her ‘Supergran’ discos where she plays music for older people, either at private parties, or functions in residential homes and day centres. She is now taking to the airwaves to reach an even larger number of people across the county with her Radio Request Show on Source FM.

Cornwall Care is a registered charity operating on a not-for-profit basis and is the region’s largest independent care provider for older people.

Source FM first broadcast in February 2009 and is designed to give a voice to the Falmouth and Penryn community. Broadcasting on 96.1FM, Source FM is entirely run by volunteers with a packed schedule of music, chat, games, and shows at all times of the day and night.

Source FM’s radio request show launches at Cornwall Care’s Redannick care home on Sunday 22nd August 2 – 4pm.

The launch party is free to attend for anyone benefitting from the charity’s services across the county.
