Mike & Parker met on New Years Day in the Gurkha restaurant and
swiftly realised that with a combined height of 12 ft 8" they could be
possibly the tallest DJing duo in Falmouth. Both of
them relocated to Falmouth in the last few years with their families
from London and Kent. Mike teaches art, but would rather be making
it. Parker takes photographs, but would rather be drinking gin &
tonics in the Bahamas.
Mike's quest for the ultimate sound has led him to Sun Ra, which is
handy, as Parker had also found his way there. With their mutual love
of music both great and daft, they decided to combine their vast
record collections for the greater good, and Freerange Music was born.
Recorded in Parker's kitchen above Penryn with a Heath Robinson-esque
set up of equipment, the show evolves over two hours with last minute
changes as one plays the other an unexpected tune. Likely and unlikely
sounds blend together or smash into each other because smooth DJing is
not really an option for these two; they don't start out with fixed
ideas, but prefer to let inspiration and imagination guide them. Jazz
to Music Hall, Calypso to Punk Rock, Noise and loveliness is all.

The mixture of music is unpredictable and from freerange (freilauf) choice.
The moderation is up for a comedy price. Acting like Waldorf and Statler, I feel like listening to a entertaining competition. I would compare it with a long jump competition of Mike Powell against Carl Lewis in 1991.

The owls are swinging!
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 18/08/2009 - 21:08.Great Show! The owls are gathered in the trees out back, gently swinging when swinging is needed, and then mesmerised by Joy D. You've got the owls attention, the mice are thankful! x
