Celebrating Young Storytellers

We’re delighted to announce the winners of the SourceFM Primary Schools Short Story Competition 2025, celebrated at a special prize-giving ceremony in our studios last week.

Joined by the Mayor of Falmouth, along with teachers and judges, we had the pleasure of honouring talented young writers from Years 2-6. The Overall Winner of our inaugural competition was Billie Carson, Year 5, from Constantine Primary School, for her imaginative story, Autobiography of an Iceberg.

Thanks to our generous sponsor, Mabecron Books at The Falmouth Bookseller, each winner received a book prize, helping to nurture a lifelong love of reading alongside writing.
Coming soon is a SourceFM Radio Special, featuring the children reading their stories and talking about what inspired them.

And there’s more to come: with 2026 named the National Year of Reading, we’re excited to confirm that the competition will return later this year.
